PRACTICAL GUIDE / 8 STEPS

Make the first
conversation count.

Use this checklist to prepare a non-confidential enquiry. You do not need to know every answer.

  1. State the decision you need to make: initial screening, detailed mapping, portfolio priority or an evidence question.
  2. Identify the public patent publication number and the particular claims of interest.
  3. List any related public family members or jurisdictions relevant to your question.
  4. Describe the technology and possible 3GPP release, or say that you are unsure.
  5. Note known configuration, optional-feature or implementation questions without disclosing confidential material.
  6. Give an approximate number of families and preferred timeline.
  7. State whether you require an NDA before detailed sharing.
  8. Keep unpublished inventions, internal analysis, credentials and confidential files out of the initial form.

An NDA preference is a request, not a signed agreement. Wait for agreed confidentiality terms and a separate sharing process before sending sensitive material.
